KICKBALL IS OFFICIALLY BACK!!!!!!
WEEK 1 SCOREBOARD
Madison 1- Jones 0 (GAME OF THE WEEK)
The Kickball Season Started with a bang! lots of exciting games, some upsets, some blowouts and some thrillers. Let's not waste any time. The first game up is the game of the week. #2 Jones fresh off a shutout victory over #6 Ike headed to Field 1 to take on the Madison Marlins. The game was a back and forth defensive struggle the entire game. However, in the 4th inning Dafford Coleman of Madison gave the Marlins a spark offensively. Tim Bolds of Jones was able to strike the next kicker out with Coleman still on base. However, the next kicker Gerald Bartholomew did not get the memo that this was a defensive struggle. He kicked 2 for 2 this game and made the game winning kick in the 4th inning. G2 placed the ball right behind 2nd Base and Dafford Coleman blazed from 1st base all the way home to secure the victory for Madison. Here is the game winning series of plays right here.
Yates 7- Willowridge 2
Yates jumped all over Willowridge as soon as the game started. Horan Phillips led the charge during the Yates offensive onslaught. Phillips was 3 for 3 for the day including the games first run. The Lions put 6 runners on base in the first inning alone. 7 Different Lions scored including 2 ladies, Mary Ginns and Tickie Thomas. The bright spot for Willowridge was the return of Skylar Tennessee Allen who went 2 for 3 and scored both of Willowridge's runs.
Galveston Ball 3- Worthing 2
Worthing started strong and took a 2-0 lead early in the game with Brandon Hall scoring in the 1st inning. However, Galveston Ball cut the defense on in the 4th inning and Worthing would score no more. Tobias Oliver and Jerrian James got things going offensively in the 3rd Inning for G-Ball with 2 scores. Cedric Gonzalez' double in the last inning sent Donald Brooks home for the game winning score.
Worthing 14- Willowridge 1
The Colts put on an offensive show against Willowridge with 9 players scoring and 11 different people getting on base. Toriano Cricket was definitely "Automatic" today going 3 for 3 with 3 scores to lead Worthing. This game got so ugly that Worthing had a chick named "Babyspice" that Willowridge couldn't stop from making it to 3rd base.. I think even Worthings new coach scored several times. Tragic. And they don't play eachother again this year either unless its in the playoffs. PLAYOFFS?!?!
Madison 2- Sterling 0
Nothing much to see here. Madison's season opener would be the first of its 3 shutouts today. Stais and Dee provided the scoring for the Marlins.
Galveston Ball14- Bellaire 0
Larkay Jones of Bellaire made it to 3rd base in the 1st inning...then things took a tragic turn for the worse. 10 Tornados scored....6 Tors actually never got out the entire game! Frederick Charles started what would be a 9 point explosion in the 2nd inning. This games was over in 3.
Milby 11- Bellaire 1
Cedric Lyons was 3-4 , scoring Bellaires only run in this game but he didn't have any help. Milby may have brought 50 people out, but it only took about 11 to bury the Cardinals. Montrell Allen, Dawonna Miles and Dugood were on fire all scoring multiple times. The Buffs started strong , and finished even stronger dropping 5 runs in the 4th to complete the run rule and get back to the tent for drinks and the game.
Jones 7- Eisenhower 0
Jones won the battle of the birds opening weekend. The game got busted open when Tru kicked a triple to left field (Error by yours truly), giving the Falcons two runs.. The game stalled with Jones up 3-0. Alex Murphy gave the Eagles a chance for a comeback with a booming kick over Victoria Jones head, but the Jones defense held as the next 3 Ike kickers popped out. Jones finished the Eagles off in the 6th. Jabari Brisco went 3 for 3 with a score and John Chatman ran two runs in.
La Marque 3- Aldine 0
This game was over in the 1st inning. Giana, O'Shay and Sean Hunt all scored in the first inning and Hunt went 2 for 2 for the entire game.
Madison 1- Yates 0
Another Madison game, another defensive struggle. This game came down to the wire. Greg Hancock went 2 for 2 for Yates, but he didn't have much help. Both teams pretty much kept the others off base until the 6th inning. The breakthrough came when Eric Allen and Michael Dixon were able to get on base setting up Kendall Reese to kick the game winning single for the Marlins.
Milby 5- BTW 4
This was a great game that really came down to the wire. A costly error by BTW allowed three Milby runners to score in the final inning. Although BTW came up short, their ladies were impressive. Karen Smith went 2-3 with a score, Kyma Walker went 2 for 3, and Travanna Lewis went 2-3 with a score.
BTW 8- La Marque 1
This game started slow but then in the 3rd Inning the Eagles offense came alive with 3 straight runs by Kyma Walker, Kenny McBride and Michael "2 Chainz Ford. The trio would score another 3 runs in the 4th inning. Quinton Rosemond and Raymond Joseph also kicked very well both going 3 for 3.
Westbury 6- Willowridge 1
Gerald Foote led the way for the Rebels as he went 3 for 3 with 2 runs. This game ended early after a 3rd inning rally where 5 Westbury players found themselves on base with Nedra Pye, Trey Johnson and "Speedy" scoring the final 3 runs.
Eisenhower 8 - Aldine 0
Ike jumped on Aldine early in this game with 3 runs in the 1st inning 3 runs in the 3rd inning and another two before the game was called in the 5th inning. DeAndra "Flash" Walter-Ferry went 3 for 3 and 2 scores for Ike. Michael White went 2 for 2 with 2 scores, and AJ Harris and Alex Murphy both scored twice as well.
Eisenhower 5 - Sterling 0
Alex Murphy went 3 for 3 and a score, Twyla Lee went 2-3 and a score and Anthony Price went 2-2 and a score. AJ Harris kicked a home run in the 2nd inning bringing Karl Ferry in with him. And this one was called in the 5th as Ike beat Sterling for the first time ever, making Sterling the 8th team Ike has beat for the 1st time ever on its Revenge Tour.
Yates 6 - La Marque 2
Chris Green went 3 for 3 and scored for La Marque but that was not enough to hold off JY
in the battle of the Cats. Yates took command of the game in the 4th inning as Greg Hancock, Cory Dixon, Coliss Smith, Michelle Simpson and Roland Robbins all scored consecutively sealing the win for the Lions. Collis Smith and Hawaii McWashington were 100% kicking and Smith scored every time he kicked.
Worthing 6- Westbury 4
Worthing jumped out early with its first four kickers of the game all scoring. Westbury mounted a nice comeback in the 5th inning with Gerald Foote, Nedra Pye and Trey Johnson all scoring. However, Westbury's big kickers were not able to kick themselves or Karin Reeder in who was left stranded on base in what could have been a game winning rally by the Rebels.
It has been a whole year, but some things still haven't changed lol
