Westbury Rebels

3CAKLPR: Tee Jay! Tell us..how do the 2016 Rebels compare to the 2014 Championship team?

TeeJay: We have some familiar faces on the current roster but have both lost and added a few. We will adjust accordingly but the key to our success is remaining healthy as we are a much leaner team this year

3CAKLPR: What are you looking forward to the most this season?

TeeJay: The end of the season! But in all honesty, looking forward to the positive competition that this game brings every Sunday.

3CAKLPR:  Wanna Predict the 2016 Playoff teams?

TeeJay:I'm pretty confident that there will be at least 2 new playoff teams this year who have either never seen post season play or have missed it in the past few years by a difference of 1 game between them and the 8th seeded team

3CAKLPR: Which team do you want to beat the most this year?

TeeJayThe team we face in the Championship game.

3CAKLPR: With Calvin being gone,Who will pitch for Westbury this year?

TeeJay:Marshawn Lynch will be our go to pitcher with a few guest appearances from others as they step up and fill our 2nd pitcher position on the team. Marshawn has the best overall record for the team in recent years.

3CAKLPR: What impact do you think the new kicking cones will have on the game?

TeeJay: It can go both ways. For some teams, they will take full advantage of what it brings to the game on both sides of the ball while others wont adjust quick enough or see the advantages to it in different scenarios. Strategy is key when adding the kicking line and will benefit any team with speed and teams with individuals who can think ahead.

3CAKLPR: How has your experience being a female coach been in a male dominant league. Especially since you have beaten most if not all of the male coaches.

TeeJay: As coach of Westbury, we have been victorious against every team in this league at least once throughout the last few years while I have been coach of the team. Nevertheless, I don't get caught up in the gender roles or feed into the thought that men are better coaches than women especially not in Kickball. It takes a certain type of person to be successful in coaching adults. Its not an easy task and I have dealt with every personality possible with my team but I wouldn't trade them for any other group in the league. My defining moment in understanding my impact/importance as coach of my team was not winning the Championship in 2014 but rather in my absence last year during playoff weekend.

But Black women are winning in life and that is what I like to refer to as #blackgirlmagic #blackgirlsrock!

3CAKLPR: What does the future of Westbury look like? Is there a strong group of new people  ready to step in?

TeeJay:The future, I cant predict that. We are taking it one day at a time. New people, what are those?!?! We are back to the basics with a few new female Westbury Alum's (check the diplomas or track stats from the late 90s early 2000s) added to the roster this year.
